Trauma-sensitive support in
acute crisis situations

Ukraine

One week after the Russian invasion in 2022, the Trauma Support Ukraine (TSU) team started offering online training and support to psychologists in Ukraine. These psychologists work daily with children, young people and adults who suffer from trauma-related complaints as a result of the war. This can include insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, aggression, despair and suicidal thoughts.

After nearly two years of webinars, we only see a greater urgency to continue as more and more people are likely to develop PTSD or other trauma-related complaints.

West Bank

In November 2023 we received another request for help, from the West Bank. The Hope Flowers School in Bethlehem has asked Sounds of Change to support their teachers and therapists with training in trauma-sensitive support and the use of art and music for trauma. Additionally we will be offering guidance with intervision and encouraging the staff to call on their vast experience to gain insight into the shared problems they’re facing.

The teachers and therapists at Hope Flowers School in Bethlehem are currently under great pressure. They have seen the demand for help from the surrounding community increase enormously. But the staff themselves also suffer from stress, trauma and uncertainty due to the war in Gaza and the increasing violence in the West Bank.

Along with our colleagues from Trauma International and Safe & Sound we started an online training program in January 2024 and will continue to support the team of teachers for the rest of the year.

The online trauma support team is a coalition between Trauma Company International, Safe & Sound and Sounds of Change.
